The UCH (Unité de Communication Habitacle, Renault's cabin control unit) handles the immobiliser, locking, windows, interior lighting and wipers. Signs of a faulty UCH
The UCH centralises the locking, electric windows, interior lighting, wipers and immobiliser. When it no longer communicates properly with the rest of the vehicle, several functions fail at once — and the engine may refuse to start.
Vehicle that no longer starts
The UCH manages the immobiliser. If the key or card is no longer recognised, the starter turns but the engine does not catch, or stalls after two seconds — a common symptom on the Clio 2 and Clio 3.
Locking, windows, lighting misbehaving
Remote with no effect, central locking silent or erratic, courtesy light or wipers switching on by themselves: these functions all depend on the UCH.
Immobiliser light steady or flashing
Before blaming the UCH, try the spare key and a healthy battery: they are the most frequent causes of a refused start.
A new UCH is very expensive
A new UCH often costs between €800 and €1,500 and has to be programmed. Cloning onto a second-hand donor with the same part number costs €149 excl. VAT, with no reprogramming when refitted.
UCH repair: at Incarline, it means cloning
We do not refurbish the UCH component by component: no resoldering and no replacement of parts on the board. We read the memory of your original unit (key coding, pairing with the engine ECU, vehicle configuration) and copy it into a healthy donor UCH with the same part number.
The donor takes on your vehicle's identity: it is fitted in place of the old one and your usual keys work, with no dealer visit. A second-hand UCH fitted as it is does not work: it has memorised the keys of another car.

You check your UCH part number
Enter the part number from the label in the order module of your model's page: it tells you straight away whether your unit is supported.
You order and choose who supplies the donor
You supply a donor UCH with the same part number, or we supply it on quote. The cloning costs €149 excl. VAT.
You send the original UCH, the donor and a key
The key or card lets us check its condition: if it is worn, we offer you a new shell or a new key.
You receive the cloned UCH within 48 to 72 hours
It is fitted in place of the old one, with no programming: the vehicle starts with your keys.

Frequently asked questions about the UCH
Do you repair UCH units component by component?
No. Incarline does not refurbish the UCH (soldering, replacing components): we clone it. The memory of your original unit is copied into a healthy donor UCH with the same part number, which takes over your keys and the vehicle configuration.
Can you drive with a faulty UCH?
It is not recommended: depending on the fault, the vehicle may refuse to start at any time, and the central locking or lighting may switch on by themselves.
How long does a UCH cloning take?
The cloned unit is sent back 48 to 72 hours after we receive your original UCH and the donor.
Do I need to supply a donor UCH?
Yes: a UCH with the same part number (and the same variant on the Clio 2). You can buy it second-hand, or ask us to supply it: we then quote according to the part number.
Do I need to remove the UCH myself before sending it?
The UCH is usually located under the dashboard or behind the glovebox, depending on the model. If you would rather not remove it yourself, your garage can take care of it.
My model is not on the list: what should I do?
Mégane, Scénic, Laguna, Clio 4, Captur, Duster or Nissan: these UCH units use other technologies, which we assess case by case. Send us the part number from the label and we will tell you whether it can be done.
