Renault UCH Repair — Clio, Clio 2, Mégane, Scénic
The UCH (Unité de Communication Habitacle, Renault's cabin control unit) centralises the locking, electric windows, interior lighting, wipers and immobiliser. When it fails, several functions stop responding. Incarline diagnoses, repairs or clones your UCH with return within 5 working days.
When should you have your UCH repaired?
The UCH centralises the locking, electric windows, interior lighting, wipers and immobiliser. On Renault vehicles, this cabin control unit — a Sagem or Continental unit depending on the generation — can cause starting problems when it no longer communicates properly with the rest of the network.
Erratic warning lights and dashboard
Random warning lights, an unstable display, loss of mileage or fuel-gauge information often point to a fault in this module. The cause is identified by electronic diagnosis before any work is done.
Faulty windows, locking or lighting
Stuck windows, central-locking faults, erratic interior lighting, inconsistent headlight brightness: the UCH drives these functions. Identifying this common cause avoids replacing each component separately.
Vehicle that no longer starts
The UCH manages the immobiliser and the communication with the engine ECU. If key recognition fails, starting becomes impossible — a frequent symptom on the Clio and Clio 2.
Replacement quote too expensive
A new UCH often costs between €800 and €1,500. Repair is a far more economical alternative, while keeping your original part.
Control unit frozen after reprogramming
A poorly handled reprogramming can leave the UCH unresponsive to diagnosis. We can often recover a seemingly dead control unit and put it back into service.
The Renault Clio 2 case
The Clio 2 (1998-2006) is particularly affected: its Sagem UCH often causes starting, indicator, central-locking or window faults. These units can be repaired or cloned without replacing the original part.

Return within 5 days
Most jobs are completed within 48 to 72 hours. You are kept informed at every step.
1-year warranty
Every repaired or cloned UCH is tested before it is returned, with a 1-year warranty on the fault repaired.
How does a UCH repair work at Incarline?
You send us your UCH control unit
Remove the UCH unit and pack it carefully. Include the make, model, year and the symptoms you are experiencing (stuck windows, faulty indicators, starting problems…), then send everything by registered post.
Full diagnosis of your UCH
Memory reads, circuit tests and identification of the cause. We check the component soldering and the comfort, lighting, unlocking and immobiliser functions — and rule out a fault on another control unit.
Repair or cloning depending on your situation
The repair keeps your original module: reworked solder joints, replacement of failed components. If necessary, cloning restores door unlocking and central locking.
Your control unit returned repaired and tested
Before dispatch: functional check, network verification and confirmation that no residual faults remain. You receive the part ready to be refitted.
On Renault vehicles, the UCH is the equivalent of the BSI unit on PSA vehicles. Also discover our engine ECU repair services and our guide to immobiliser deactivation (immo off).
Supported Renault, Dacia and Nissan models
We work on UCH units from the Renault group, manufactured by Sagem or Continental depending on the generation. A failing component can cause an intermittent fault affecting starting, lighting or locking.
The UCH belongs to the family of comfort control units — the equivalent of the BSI on PSA, the FRM/JBE on BMW or the SAM on Mercedes vehicles. The symptoms of an internal fault are often similar from one make to another.

Frequently asked questions about UCH repair
Can you drive with a faulty UCH?
It is not recommended. The longer the fault persists, the more the electronic board can deteriorate, particularly on the Sagem or Continental units fitted to the Clio, Mégane and Scénic. A no-start condition can occur at any time.
How long does a UCH repair take?
In most cases, 48 to 72 hours after we receive the control unit (return within 5 working days in total). A diagnosis is carried out on receipt before any work is done.
Do I need to remove the UCH myself before sending it?
The UCH is usually located under the dashboard or behind the glovebox, depending on the model. If you would rather not remove it yourself, your garage can take care of it; we can help you locate it.
Is the UCH repair covered by a warranty?
Yes, every repair comes with a 1-year warranty. The warranty covers the fault that was repaired, not a new failure with a different origin.
