The pin code (sometimes called "immobiliser code" or "secret code") is a 4-digit code unique to each Renault, stored in the UCH (Body Control Unit) and associated with the engine ECU. This code is essential for many operations: coding a new car key, replacing a UCH, programming an immobiliser, recovering a vehicle locked after an electronic failure. Without this code, it is impossible to code new car keys or to put a replacement UCH back into service.

How to Obtain the Pin Code — Options

Option 1: Reading from the Vehicle (Workshop)

Using a CLIP diagnostic tool or certified equivalent, we connect to the vehicle's UCH and extract the pin code directly. Fastest method (15 to 30 minutes) — requires the vehicle to be present at our workshop.

Option 2: Extraction from Sent Units (100% Remotely)

If the vehicle cannot be moved, dismantle and send us the engine ECU and the UCH. The pin code is shared between these two units, and we extract it by directly reading their memory, then we send it to you — without having to move the vehicle. Timeframe: 48 working hours after receipt.

Why is Identity Verification Mandatory?

The pin code allows new car keys to be associated with your vehicle. We have a legal and ethical obligation to verify that the requester is indeed the vehicle owner, to prevent any fraudulent use (theft, illicit resale). Specifically, we require: valid vehicle registration document + owner's ID. This verification commits us, protects you, and ensures the traceability of the service.
