TCU Cloning — Mercedes 7G-Tronic, BMW ZF 8HP, Peugeot EAT6, Renault EDC

TCU Cloning — Mercedes 7G-Tronic, BMW ZF 8HP, Peugeot EAT6, Renault EDC

TCU Cloning — Mercedes, BMW, Peugeot, Citroën, Renault, Fiat, Alfa Romeo

Modern automatic transmissions (Mercedes 7G-Tronic and 9G-Tronic, BMW ZF 6HP/8HP, Peugeot/Citroën EAT6/EAT8 Aisin, Renault EDC, Fiat TCT…) integrate a TCU (Transmission Control Unit, sometimes called TCM) that controls gear changes, hydraulic pressures, and driving style learning. When this TCU is physically faulty, cloning is the economical alternative to dealership replacement — often 80% cheaper.

At Incarline, we transfer the original data (calibration, ECU pairing, adaptations) from your faulty TCU to a compatible donor TCU, for a flat rate of €299 all-inclusive — DHL pickup and return included, 2-year warranty.

Others

  • Volvo AW TF-80/81SC: S60, V60, XC60, XC90 (Aisin 6-speed)
  • Honda / Toyota — contact us for specific references

Typical symptoms of a faulty TCU

  • Jerks, missed shifts, limp mode (transmission stuck in one gear)
  • Transmission warning light on, message "Automatic transmission failure"
  • Vehicle refuses to start or exit Park mode
  • Very slow or conversely too harsh shifts
  • Slippage / power loss during acceleration
  • Generic fault codes: P0700, P0730, P0741, P0781, P0782, P0841, P084F
  • Specific manufacturer codes (Mercedes: 2200, 2201; BMW: 4F85, 4F86; PSA: P0730, P2711)
  • Abnormal battery consumption when stationary

Why clone instead of replace

  • New premium dealership TCU: €1,500 to €3,500 per unit depending on model, + mandatory programming and coding (€300-700), + learning adaptations
  • Complete reconditioned transmission: €4,000 to €8,000 depending on model — often wrongly suggested when only the TCU is at fault
  • Used TCU alone: unusable without cloning (original vehicle coding, VIN, incompatible adaptations)
  • Incarline Cloning: €299 incl. VAT, your adaptations and coding preserved identically, no dealership visit
  • 2-year warranty

Why €299 here vs €249 for DSG VAG or PowerShift Ford?

Premium manufacturers' TCUs (Mercedes, BMW) and modern multi-generation TCUs (Aisin EAT6/EAT8) use more complex cryptographic architectures than VAG or Ford TCUs. They often include:

  • An advanced Component Protection encryption (multi-level vehicle coding)
  • Secured memories requiring more expensive programming equipment
  • Larger calibrations (up to 4 MB for some 8HP vs 512 KB for a DSG)
  • Longer processing time (3h+ on bench vs 2h)

This €50 surcharge remains negligible compared to the savings made compared to dealership replacement (€1,500-3,500 avoided).

How cloning works

We transfer all data from your original TCU (calibration, vehicle pairing, adaptations, VIN, internal counters) to a physically functional donor TCU. You must send us two TCUs:

  1. Your original TCU (the faulty one) — removed from the transmission
  2. A donor TCU with strictly identical reference — purchased new from a dealership (~€1,500-3,000) or used from a scrapyard (~€300-800)

Compatibility check: the exact TCU reference is engraved on the module's label (e.g., Mercedes A0012706506; BMW 8HP45: 8634471-01; EAT6 Aisin: 2230R6). Send us a photo via our contact form — we confirm feasibility and compatible donor references within 24h.

How it works

  1. Reference identification + purchase of compatible donor TCU
  2. Order the cloning on our site (€299 incl. VAT)
  3. Remove your TCU — ideally entrusted to a specialist garage (transmission access, possible fluid drain)
  4. DHL collects the two TCUs on the chosen date
  5. Diagnosis, cloning, and bench testing within 72 working hours
  6. Return of the cloned TCU + your old TCU, ready to reinstall without manufacturer intervention

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we receive most often.

  • Technically, both operations aim for the same goal: transferring software data (calibration, pairing, VIN, adaptations) from a faulty TCU to a donor TCU. The differences lie in complexity: Mercedes TCUs (7G-Tronic 722.9, 9G-Tronic 725.0) and BMW ZF 8HP use larger secured memories and more advanced cryptographic algorithms than VAG DSG TCUs, requiring more time and more expensive programming equipment. This is why the price is €299 for premium multi-brands vs €249 for DSG / PowerShift.
