Car Key with Remote — Duplication or Replacement

Car Key with Remote — Duplication or Replacement

Does your car key include remote buttons (central locking, windows, boot, Keyless-Go)? Reproducing a key with a remote is more complex than a simple transponder key: beyond immobiliser coding, the remote must be paired with the vehicle's radio receiver, the opening codes synchronised, and often advanced functions (comfort, windows, keyless start) initialised.

At Incarline, we cover the reproduction of keys with remotes for almost all modern brands, including Keyless-Go keys (start without insertion). Prices start from €149, precise quote within 24 working hours.

Types of Remote Keys Supported

Plip Key (integrated remote, classic insertion)

The traditional key with a mechanical blade, with 2 to 4 buttons for central locking / windows / boot. Examples: Peugeot 207/307/308, Renault Mégane II/III, Golf V/VI, Audi A4 B7/B8, Opel Astra H, Ford Focus II/III.

Hands-free Key with Retractable Blade

“Smart key” type with a retractable blade activated by a button. Start by inserting into a dedicated slot. Examples: Peugeot 208 II, 308 II, 3008, 5008, Citroën C3 III, C4 II, DS3/DS4.

Keyless-Go Key (keyless start)

No insertion needed — key in pocket, START button on the dashboard. Examples: Mercedes E/S-Class, BMW 3/5/7 Series, Audi A6/A7/A8, Volkswagen Passat/Tiguan, Peugeot 3008/5008, Renault Espace V, Ford Kuga II.

Renault Hands-free Card

Renault proprietary system: flat card with no visible button, read by internal antennas. Examples: Laguna II/III, Scénic II/III, Espace IV/V, Vel Satis, Mégane III/IV.

Why Does a Key with Remote Cost More than a Simple Key?

Three main reasons:

  1. Cost of the blank key: a remote key costs €60 to €250 depending on the model (vs €15-40 for a simple transponder key), due to its more complex embedded electronics (radio transmitter, encryption, sometimes LED and Keyless antennas)
  2. Longer coding procedure: transponder + remote + (possibly) Keyless-Go pairing — 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the model
  3. More expensive programming equipment: high-end diagnostic tools (Autel IM608, Launch X431 IMMO Elite, manufacturer tools) required for modern systems

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we receive most often.

  • A simple key (transponder only) allows only starting the vehicle — locking and unlocking are done manually with the mechanical blade. A key with a remote adds radio electronics that allow controlling central locking, sometimes windows and boot, remotely. Keyless-Go keys go further: they also allow starting without inserting the key (START button). The more complex the key, the more expensive the reproduction (part + coding).
