Lost Car Key — Total Loss and Complete Reprogramming
Have you lost all the keys to your vehicle (or your only key)? Or have all your keys been stolen? In this case of total loss, simple duplication is not possible — a complete procedure is required: reading the vehicle's pin code, erasing the old keys in the anti-theft ECU (for security), then coding a new key.
At Incarline, we handle total loss for the majority of brands and models on the market. Prices start from €249, intervention at our workshop or, depending on feasibility, at your home (vehicle immobilized). Precise quote within 24 working hours.
Service strictly conditioned on owner verification: vehicle registration document + ID required. This verification is non-negotiable and aims to prevent any fraudulent use (theft, illicit resale).
What the Total Loss Service Includes
- Reading the pin code of your vehicle via the anti-theft ECU (UCH, BSI, EZS, CAS depending on brand) — see our dedicated services Renault Pin Code, PSA Pin Code, CS Immo IV VAG Pin Code
- Erasing old keys from the list of authorized keys (security against a potential thief)
- Providing a new compatible key for your vehicle (transponder + remote control + Keyless-Go depending on model)
- Cutting the mechanical blade from your vehicle registration data or door lock
- Coding the new key in the anti-theft ECU
- Complete testing: starting, locking, unlocking, remote functions
- Handing over the new key with invoice
Indicative Prices by Key Type
- Vehicles with simple transponder key (pre-2005 vehicles): €249 to €349
- Vehicles with plip key (2005-2015 vehicles): €349 to €549
- Vehicles with Keyless-Go key (2015+): €549 to €849
- Premium vehicles (S-Class, 7 Series, A8, Range Rover): €849 to €1,299
These prices include: pin code reading + erasing old keys + complete new key + coding + blade cutting + testing. The price mainly depends on the cost of the new blank key (which can range from €50 to €600 depending on the model) and the complexity of coding.
Why is a Total Loss More Expensive than a Duplication?
- Absence of master key: we must use the vehicle's pin code to "force" the addition of a new key, which is a longer and more technical procedure
- Prior pin code reading (security obligation) — included in the service
- Blade cutting from scratch: without the original key, we must extract the original code (vehicle registration, from the manufacturer, or by reading the door lock)
- Secure erasure of old keys — to prevent their use if found by a third party
- Longer procedure: 2 to 4 hours of intervention in total depending on the model
What to Do Immediately in Case of Total Loss?
- Secure your vehicle: if possible, move it to a secure location (garage, monitored parking) — even without a key, a vehicle can be stolen by technical means
- Report the loss or theft to the police or gendarmerie (filing a complaint recommended if theft)
- Contact us quickly for a quote — we can often intervene within 48 hours
- Prepare your documents: vehicle registration, ID, insurance certificate
- Do not attempt a workaround (forcing the start, dismantling the lock) — this can permanently block your immobilizer
Special Case: Vehicle Stolen and Recovered
If your vehicle has been stolen and recovered (or if your keys have fallen into the wrong hands), we strongly recommend a complete total loss procedure — even if you have recovered some keys. The reason: a potential thief may have made a copy or photo of your key. Erasing all old keys and coding new ones is the only way to ensure your vehicle's security.
Intervention Process
- Request a quote: contact us with model, year, key type, and situation (all keys lost? stolen? vehicle immobilized on site?)

- Order the blank key (24-72h delay depending on model)
- Intervention: at our workshop (if vehicle transportable) or at your home (if vehicle immobilized)
- Hand over the key + invoice + certificate of old keys erasure
