Rising Fuel Prices

The price of a litre of diesel over €2, unleaded 95 exceeds €1.88, the litre of diesel has risen by 14 cents… pump prices have been breaking records in recent weeks, and this increase is likely to persist according to specialists, following the crisis currently affecting the global energy market.

Geopolitical conditions and the energy crisis oblige, pump prices have risen by several cents in a week. A hard blow for motorists who are looking for solutions to circumvent inflation and lighten their fuel budget. Incarline offers you some.

Faced with this inflation, motorists are therefore looking for solutions to reduce their fuel consumption, by driving less or even changing their mode of transport. And you, what do you do?

How to Save on Fuel Prices?

Choosing a cheaper fuel, adopting a new means of transport, or even changing the way you drive, there are several tips to help you cope with rising fuel prices.

Is Super Ethanol an Interesting Alternative?

Set at €0.8 per litre, super ethanol E85 has managed to gain the interest of motorists, especially after the recent increases in pump prices. In addition to being ecological, this fuel produced in France costs up to three times less than its competitors.

But beware, not everyone can use it. Super ethanol is first used in certain compatible petrol cars, called flexfuel from the origin. These vehicles are designed by manufacturers to run on super ethanol.

As for other petrol cars, they can only run on E85 if they are equipped with an ethanol kit.

After installing a super ethanol unit, you must change the vehicle's registration document. This is free in the majority of departments.

Driving on LPG

Considered a way to save on the fuel budget, LPG vehicles are attracting more and more motorists. Indeed, costing half as much as other fuels, LPG is the alternative chosen by many motorists to face inflation. Moreover, LPG vehicles are considered "clean", they emit 50% less fine particles into the air compared to thermal cars.

LPG vehicles are eligible for the conversion bonus.

Favour Electric Vehicles

Whether bicycles, scooters, or even electric scooters, or light mopeds (a kind of electric balance bikes), these vehicles are increasingly interesting to the French because, in addition to being ecological, they allow escaping the persistent inflation of fuel prices.

Adopt Eco-Driving

Some simple actions can reduce your fuel consumption if you adopt them while driving your vehicle. This is called eco-driving. To get started, you must:

  • Ensure the maintenance of your vehicle and make sure it is in good condition. A poorly maintained car consumes 25% more fuel than a well-maintained car.
  • Prepare your trips before hitting the road and check tire pressure.
  • Adopt smooth driving and avoid over-revving which causes a 20% overconsumption.
  • Reduce your speed by 10km/h to save up to 5 litres of fuel.
  • Do not hesitate to turn off the engine in case of prolonged stops.
  • Remove all unnecessary loads.

Eco-driving not only saves on fuel but also limits greenhouse gas emissions and, above all, reduces the risk of accidents.
